The Final Countdown- Mad Max
May 25th 2006 23:25
So here we are on number NINE of the top ten Australian Movies, I would first like to put forward that I don't love Mel Gibson or anything and it is pure coincidence that the first two movies star "Mad Mel" anyway if you haven't seen this one yet then please do and to a lesser extent but still very good Mad Max 2, also let us nevewr mention the fact that there was a Mad Max 3 because they really should never have gone on to make beyond thunderdome after they read the script. Mel Gibson is very good in both and actually plays a fantastic young handsome broodish type, who is really a good guy at heart. Unfortunately it has aged in an unfantastical way with some technical things looking almost ridiculous, (however the little razor boomerang boy cutting of the guys fingers is hilarious as you tyhe little rubber sausagey thing fall to the ground) The messages of the film are more relevant today probably than they were then with a world trying to survive from mass chaos and fuel being the ultimate resource. Excellent Cast, excellent ideas sub-par graphics, but amazing pyrotechnics. 9/10 on the Australianometre scale Please see at least Mad Max 1 and never see "beyond thunderdome" because it is absolute shite and has Tina Turner in a leading role, you know it's bad.

Now, it looks as if MM4 is to be live action, filmed in Australia but with ony half the original budget of $100 million.
40 year old Aussie actor Steven Innes is set to be cast as max, if not already and the film should be released by 2013.
Mel Gibson is not involved but may appear in a cameo role.
So, I'll look forward to this but not for an anime or cartoon.
Still, 4 years is a long time to wait for this, but I guess Miller has to do Happy Feet 2 and Justice League first.
