Sex and the city

July 2nd 2008 11:55

After all the long wait and anticipation, I finally get to watch Sex and the city, thanks to my work, I got myself two free movie tickets and so I went with my workmate.

It is just too hard to not fall in love with the movie, as I believe it has all the right ingredients that makes up a good enjoyable movie (well at least from the viewpoint of female audiences), it got the girlies' brunches, the stylish Manolo Blahniks heels, the gorgeous handbags, the dream wedding, the PR business and the newspaper column and last but not least, the constant search of a true love (in almost everyone's mind), and for some a plainly great sex (In Samantha's case obviously).

Their friendship is real, simple and beautifully flawed with real issues and differences between them. I love how different these four girls really are, but at the same time they are the same kind of woman, who value friendship and love.

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) have delivered an outstanding performance in my opinion. I love the chemistry between them and I enjoy the sweet simple girlie jokes here and there throughout the film. One of my favourite funniest scene is when Samantha was planning a surprise home-made sushi dinner for her bf, and she layed down on her dining table covered in nothing but sushi.

With regards to Carrie's relationship to Big, I love how realistic it is, that Big has second thoughts and fear embracing the whole idea of getting married again. To my surprise, the ending was not what I expected at all, yet, I think it is even sweeter and better than my version of ending.

I actually liked this movie, even though the girls I went with were disappointed. I was telling them, but the whole thing is just an extended version of the half-hour series. I loved Big here, how vulnerable he was, was happy for Charlotte and felt sorry for Smith. But I hope they don't go with their plan to make another sequel - I say leave it as it is. It's perfect the way it is now.
